Would like to know how much to open my own business & lease a location?
So, Ive always heard it takes about 100,000 + to open your own store. But, since i’ve already started my own business online I have about 1/2-3/4 of the merchandise to occupy a store. I sell baby boutique accessories and some clothing. I will need about 5-10k (10,000) more to buy more merchandise. I’m not asking that.
My question is how much is it for me to purchase the displays etc. I am willing to buy nice used item displays. HOw much for that? If you have a store yourself that would be great if you can give me any advice
I also have done some research in regards to leasing. But i read in this listing $1.75 per squar foot. I get that (1.75 x 640 = $1,120 in rent). But then it said plus NNN.
WHAT DOES NNN? MEAN OR STAND FOR?
If you can also provide me with great websites that can help in directing me in the right direction with leasing a retail place (SMALL place) that would be great!
here are some facts:
type of store: baby boutique accessories & clothing (wholesale prices) RETAIL store
type of neighborhood i live in: los angeles county, city of Bell – saturated with alot of low income hispanics and some gangs-
type of neighborhood i want to lease in: SOMETHING CLOSE TO HOME but GREAT (INCOME) NEIGHBORHOODS i.e. Fullerton, Anaheim, Pico Rivera, Downey, Montebello, etc
thanx!
NNN means triple net which means you would also be responsible for all property tax, maintenance and insurance, which can add up. Rather than directing you toward incomplete websites of available commercial property you are much better off contacting a local commercial realtor who can advise you on your best options in a market that he/she has expertise. Just like residential real estate, the landlord/seller pays the commission.
I don’t know where the location of the $1.75/s.f. you identified was, but in the nicer areas it is going to be a great deal more. Most often commercial space is priced per square foot, but based on the yearly rent, not the monthly rent, thus your $1.75/s.f price would actually be $21/s.f. so don’t get freaked out when you see prices like that.
A good place to find inexpensive displays is at auctions of other businesses going out of business. There are auction notices in the newspaper every week. A smart move would be to approach the business before the auction and make an offer on what they have available way before auction day.
Where can I find cute clothes?
Okay, So I tried shopping everywhere, and it seems every time I buy some cute clothes, I come back and everyone has the same thing. I prefer bright, bold colors, lacy, dresses, and the baby doll shirts. I don’t like shopping at American Eagle, Aero, Hollister, old navy, gap or Abercrombie. None of that.. Places I did/do like to shop is Delias, Forever 21, Wetseal, and Charlotte Russe. I found one cute online store called asia jam. Please help me out. I don’t care if it’s just online shopping, but please keep it in the U.S.
(I USED to shop at hottopic and Rue 21, but EVERYONE shops there..)
Pleaseeee help…I just need some stores people don’t normally shop at. Thank you!

Opting for a natural pregnancy: non compliance issues?
We are in the midst of TTC and decided on a natural pregnancy (and now birth hopefully). My question is for those going completely natural during pregnancy, how do you let everyone know to prevent getting gifts you wont use but without making gift buying a hassle for everyone?
For instance I don’t want just any lotion or clothing for my baby, but stores don’t usually carry a large variety of either…and toys!…we plan on being lenient but don’t want to compromise just because everyone bought us regular things. Any ideas on how to handle this? I was thinking links to buy gift cards online to the stores I can actually afford, cash request….anything else?
To avoid any potential issues: to each their own, if you don’t agree with our decisions please do not answer.
Now that I read this: I seemed to have answered my question on my own but I’d still love to hear ideas.
Love the variety of answers. I’m having a heart attack over this…just wanted to get input. Glad to know you’d blow a friend’s baby shower off for requesting specific things for her baby. What a bitch, huh! lol I do understand which is the purpose of this question…how to handle people like that with respect.
I’m *NOT having a heart attack…
I agree with Cindy, and I also love her name…
If you register at your store of choice, either on-line of in a local town, most people will check the registry to see what you need/want. You could also, and I would highly recommend this part, put on the invitations that “You will be going organic with this baby, so please try to adhere to those guidelines”. There will ALWAYS be some cranky relative (Riyans mom…lol) that says peshaw to your wishes and buys pampers and whatever else she thinks you’ll love…these things can either be given away or returned. And I know a great site for cheap cloth diapers… http://www.clothdiapers.com. Check out their package deals!!
For people to say that you have no right to ask for what you want … WHATEVER. I’m sure people are aware ALREADY that you like things to be natural and organic. It will come as no surprise to them that you only want what you think is best for your baby too. Sure, it makes things a little more difficult. But life is difficult sometimes. Most people will just deal with it and not make it a big deal. You DO have the right to ask for what you want. And you do have the right to return things that you won’t use!! There are vegetarians that we cater to everyday…there are people with allergies that we cater to everyday…there are people who like organic that we cater to everyday. It’s part of life…not EVERYBODY is a robot and does things like everybody else. If somebody stopped being my friend or refused to come to my house because I had specific expectations about what went into and on MY baby..well, then…good riddance to you!!
Do you think maternity clothes should be?
As cheap as regular clothing? Here’s my reasoning :
1) Our money is mainly used for the arrival of our baby, not a pair or 60 buck jeans from motherhood, that we are only gonna wear for 3 or 4 months cause most women don’t even buy maternity clothes until 6 or 7 months in.
2) If they would lower the cost and make the clothes as cheap as regular clothes, then stores would make more money off of them, because we would be able to buy more at one time. (this is the reason why wal-mart and old navy no longer sell maternity clothing in the stores, only online, because they were losing money)
3) No already body conscious female wants to have to shop at goodwill for clothes that are possibly 15 years older then she is, and stretched out beyond return.
Honestly what are these stores reasoning behind charging so much for maternity clothes.
Old Navy Maternity> 2 pairs of jeans $71.45, 2 shirts $42.96 + tax = $ 123.56 + shipping and handling = $ 145.73
Old Navy Juniors> 2 pairs of jeans $49.98, 2 shirts $ 35.00 + tax = $ 91.78 + shipping and handling = $ 112.05
now take off shipping and handling because you don’t have to order regular clothes online. total $91.78 > $53.95 difference.
ITS FREAKING RIDICULOUS
can someone please tell me why these clothes cost so much? I would really like to know.
ha ha tango we probably make more every 2 weeks then you do a month.
Maternity clothes are the ultimate rip-off! Especially when you consider most of them are still made in China from the cheapest thread and fabric, and I won’t even question here how much people are paid to make them…
would you buy clothing for your baby or young child from a online used clothing store?
try it, free shipping and price cheap, i think you can choose your favorites

does use clothes sells good online?
I have alot of kids used clothes baby boy 1-12 months and girls 2yo sizes, anyways we are stationed in Germany and thres no yards sales or anything like that, just a trifht store but that would be my last choice so my cuestion is is it worth it to pay the fees to put it on ebay would it sell?
I’m also a used stuff lover and have gotten alot of used decoration items in German trifht stores, such as chinas, beer mugs etc, I could list some of this items as well, Im asking because I tried to sell some candel holder once and I listed it for like 3 days but it didnt sell, thanks
the shiping is not problem I ship fro apo so is the same price as if I was in the states and the clothes is pretty new my boy is only 1 year old but that size dont feets him anymore and my oldest girl is 5yo so the close arent that old, Im not expecting a fortune just some extra money
Not really, this stuff is best left for garage sales.
How should I package clothing when mailing them?
I recently opened an online baby, child and maternity clothing consignment store and I was trying to figure out the most professional and attractive way to ship. I have in the past used decorative tissue paper but with large orders, it tends to rip easier. How would you want your package to arrive?
You could just put in an ordinary box and stuff it with some tissue paper?? As long as the goods arrive I think everyone will be happy!
Where can I find Mary Engelbreit baby clothes?
I have seen some online but prefer to shop in an actual store. I know Mervyn’s used to carry Mary Engelbreit but we no longer have Mervyn’s in our area. Does anyone know of any stores that carries it?
I heard that they are supposed to launch the clothing line at any Dillard’s department stores. So keep your eye out if you have one near where you live. Good Luck!
Check out my new site for other helpful tips if you like. Thanks!
What do you think of this business idea?
I would like to start my own business handmaking/using a sewing machine making baby & children’s clothing, primarily the ages of newborn to 4 years. This would mainly be out of my house and on an online store which I will build.
I would like these products to be affordable and a great quality. Some things I will be making are sleepers, packs of onesies, dresses, pants/shirt, shorts/t-shirt combinations, and jumpsuit/overalls. I would also like to do bedding and blankets later on.
1.) What should I be charging for these items, as a general idea?
2.) What would be a great way to advertise without really having to spend a lot of money?
3.) What would be a catchy name for my line of clothing?
Thank you very much!!! =)
Advertise to ur family and friends, sending them text msg and emails then ask them to forward to their frens. Also display photos of ur masterpiece in the emails to attract some potential buyers.

I have a small business on eBay, this is my first year, how do I go about preparing for taxes?
I opened a store on eBay selling infant clothing & other baby items. I opened the store in April 2007, I was making around $1,000 a month from April until June 2007 when I put the settings to vacation settings until late August 2007. (My husband was in a car accident, I had to tend to him as well as insurance and lawsuits, so I didn’t sell ANYTHING during that time period) This month, I have made around $1,100. I keep record of everything, I use a program through eBay and send everything to QuickBooks online. What EXACTLY do I need to get together and bring in when I have my taxes prepared? This is my first year doing this, and I have NO IDEA what I’m in for! I get a lot of items I resell on eBay, and they all have item numbers. Can I claim that as expenses? And can I just use the item numbers, or how does that work? Also, I am not quite sure how to print out all of my info once I’m in QuickBooks online edition. Any help is appreciated!
1. Your income is self-employment income. On your tax return it is to be reported on Schedule C of Form 1040.
2. You must keep track of your gross sales and expenses to figure out net profit. This net profit is subject to Self Employment tax @15.3%. For this you will file schedule SE (Form 1040) with your Form 1040.
3. Get a business license from your city/county. The fee ranges from $10 to $100 depending upon your city/county.
4. Open a bank account exclusively for your business activity. This way you can easily keep your personal and business expenses separate.
5. If you don’t have any employee you don’t need tax identification number. Your SS number will serve this purpose.
6. From your city/county office, find out if you are required to get sales tax permit. When you get sales tax permit, then you will add sales tax to items sold in your state, and deposit the collected sales tax with the sales tax office.
I’m 18 and I think I am pregnant, advice?
The last couple days I’ve started putting the pieces together and now I am almost certain that I am about 3 weeks pregnant. I’ve taken 2 pregnancy tests already, 17 and 24 days after my last period. They both came back negative; however, my cycle is shorter than most women at about 20 days, so if the tests were accurate it should have showed but I’m afraid I may have taken them too early. I usually get my period about every 2-3 weeks but it has been 4 weeks today since my last. I was supposed to get my period 8 days ago and it has never been anywhere near this long between periods which really raise my suspicions.
I also have many pregnancy symptoms besides my missed period such as frequent urination during the night, waking up anywhere from 2-5 times just during sleep, even if I didn’t drink liquids before bed, this has never happened to me before. I feel VERY bloated and I believe I’ve gained some weight; even my boyfriend has noticed I’ve gotten chunkier and for the past 4 years my weight has never really fluctuated. My boobs appear to have gotten slightly larger; I have smaller boobs so it’s easy to notice a difference. A couple weeks ago I was really sick with an upper respiratory infection and when I started throwing up I figured it was just because I was sick but now I believe it was morning sickness. The first time I threw up was when I was on the porch and my roommate started smoking; the smell of smoke is not exactly appealing but I’ve definitely been around it a lot and it’s never made me throw up before. When I was pumping gas yesterday the smell made me extremely lightheaded and dizzy which never happens to me, I actually used to like the smell of gas. And speaking of gas I have been very gassy lately, similar to what my sister went through in her pregnancy.
My boyfriend and I have been together for over 2 years now and we’ve been friends for a little over 3 years so I know that he is a really great guy and he will do everything in his power to be a great dad especially since his was never there for him. We currently live together and have been for about 4 months now. He has a job as a landscaper making $1100 a month for the 6 months of winter, plus any extra for additional jobs he does and then he makes $1600 a month for 6 months during the summer plus extra for the jobs. I’m currently in my first semester of college to become an elementary school teacher and I have a part time job making around $850 a month. However, I work at a flexible job where I can pick up about 10 more hours a week getting paid $8.49 an hour so I’ll be bringing in a bit of extra money, about $340 a month before taxes. We’re going to be moving into a bigger place in about a month for $600 w/ utilities included whereas right now we’re renting for $575 w/ utilities. I know our money situation is not amazing by any means but we’ve never had problems treating ourselves to stuff so I know we have extra money coming in.
As far as stuff for the baby, my mom has a crib from when we were babies, my sister just had a child so I can ask her for extra clothes when her daughter grows out of them, my mom is a seamstress and makes TONS of things for my sisters baby, such as onesies, outfits, blankets, sheets for the crib, pretty much anything we need made from cloth which will save a TON of money. As far as a stroller or any additional furniture I can try looking in secondhand stores such as Goodwill and look on craigslist. I believe I can make it work. I live less than 3 miles from my mom and she loves babysitting for the weeks my boyfriend has to work then on his weeks off he can watch the baby. I just have this feeling that I can be a good mom and I want to make this work. As far as my future plans I am definitely staying in college and getting my bachelors degree. I’m considering taking some online classes so I can get in more hours at work, not to mention I work in a slow paced job where I’m allowed to study and do my homework. I have yet to tell my parents or anyone except for my boyfriend because I am not yet certain that I am pregnant. I was just hoping for some advice.. Thank-you
Wow… well you seem like you are stable and in a good situation to bring a baby into the world if you are. So you have nothing to worry about with that. And as far as the pregnancy your best bet would be to get an apt because no on here is going to be able to tell you if your pregnant or not, they can say what they think but not positive. As far as your symptoms it sounds like you might be but it also could be in your head for thinking you are pregnant. So your best bet would be for a doctors apt, or try to take another pregnancy test the end of this week with first morning pee, as hard as it might be try not to pee so much at night and dont drink lots of fluids before you take it because it could be diluted or you dont have enough hcg by the time you take the test.Good Luck:)
Is it bad that me and my younger cousin have a secrets?
My aunt died suddenly 2yrs ago leaving behind 6 adult children; an 8(Ava)&10(Ari) yr old daughters(at the time of her death). My cousin Mimi(aunts oldest daughter) took guardianship. I have a close relationship with Ari who is now 12, she has become like a little sister.
Mimi once made a remark about Ari and my relationship. I know my aunt would not mind(she even used to call Ari my little sister), and I have always had kids over and taken them on trips etc. Mimi is not exactly a good role model and I want to make sure Ari and Ava do not become a product of their environment. Mimi has 4 kids 4 baby dads(no help from any of them), the most recent dad is 18 and Mimi is 33 among many other backwards decisions she make. Well since my aunt died I try to do things for Ava &Ari,I thought would make things easier for Mimi. She told me she would appreciate if I didn’t because it causes problems, because her kids get upset and she has to explain. So now I give Mimi’s brother and his wife things for Ari & Ava, and they tell Mimi it is from them. Mimi gives him a hard time as well, when he buys things for his sisters Mimi asks him why he didn’t buy anything for her kids. Mimi’s 2 younger brothers want to say something about her selfishness, but they are worried she wont let them see their little sisters. Mimi wants people to do for her kids as they do for Ava and Ari, but she doesn’t have a problem when her kids get things(gifts and what they need) from their aunts and grandparents from their fathers family. Ava and Ari don’t have a father nor grandparents to do anything for them and Mimi lives on a very fixed income which she is always complaining about.
Ari and I talk online she tells me what she needs and I get it for them. She talks to me about what goes on and asks me not to tell Mimi (which i would not, because I know youth need sometimes need someone outside the home to talk to and to trust), Ari knows not to tell Mimi the things their brother brings for them is really from me, because Mimi will give it back. The things i get are things they need, clothes school supplies etc., especially Ava she is obese and wears spandex pants all the time, so I went to a department store and got her slacks and jeans she really really needed clothes. All her brothers are appreciative and what I do is a secret among us. Is it bad to have Ari delete our conversations and keep all of this a secret.
Thanks Mark
Doll Fashions for a 14″ Madamme Alexander Doll?
My niece has a 14″ Madamme Alexander Doll. Does anyone know if I could use baby alive doll clothes for that doll. Tried to get the you and me 5 in 1 doll clothes pack for 12-15″ dolls from Toysrus, but my local store doesn’t have it, Could order it online but would pay shipping too which was 5.48+19.99 for the item or could get from another store (I live in Joliet, Il and the other store options were Orland Park, Il or Aurora, IL) which is too far from my house to drive there. Just one outfit is 6.99 online or 9.99 in the store. thought this clothes pack was a bargain because each outfit would cost 4.00/per outfit instead of 6.99 or even the 9.99 in store for one outfit.
Does anyone know where else I could get that doll clothes pack from, so I don’t have to pay for shipping or any other ideas for doll clothes(would like multiple outfits for one great price, if possible, like the one on Toysrus) for that doll, since I know madamme alexander clothes is also expensive.
my grandmas really mean and selfish?
if she buys any more clothes her closets are going to explode. she has 3 closets in her house one has my grandpas stuff but she stores alot of her stuff cause my grandpa died so he dnt use his closet. and shoes? she has more shoes then the mall! and yet she will scream at me 4 getting new clothes or shoes cause i want to much but she has way more clothes and shoes then me. she owns about 5 or 6 winter coats. and yells at me wen i buy lots of stuff like last june she went to a wedding and she cant work a computer and was yelling at me to go online and get her new shoes and i was like im sure u have a pair and she swore all her shoes were flat and sure enough the day of the weddingshe had the shoes she wanteed on i was like when u get them? and she said i had them and i sed i thought u didnt? and she got mad at me. she wanted new black pants to go to florida with and wanted me to go online and get them. why does she need them she jus bought 3 new track suits one of them is black. the thing that bothers me about when she wants me to goonline 4 her is she makes u sit there 4 hours and she wont get anything or she will get one thing from the website u visited an hour ago.
another thing shes always yelling at me and my cousins cause we’re ‘rude’ to her but shes really mean to my great grandma and that really makes me so mad cause shes old and even tho she can be mean u have to be nice to her.
that botheres me the most is when she is mean to my greatg-ma but it really makes me mad when i get yelled at 4 useing my b-day money 4 new nikes or spending $400 of my money on new clothes that i actually need or getting new shoes- i love shoes and matching my shoes and bags. oh yea thats another thing she gets mad about is me and bags but shes worse then me! i said last week i wanted ugg slippeers and she got mad but my 9 year old cousin karlee has liek 3 coach bags 2 pairs of uggs 1 pair of ugg slippers and a laptop but i got yelled at 4 wanting ugg slippers wen karlees are so cute and my sister kelsey whos 11 got yelled at 4 wanting a laptop and i bet shes gona be real mad this christmas when my aunt gets my cousins ryan adrian and kyle a laptop to share even tho they aree 4,7 and 9 she will get mad.

she also acts like everyone owes her somethign and she should hav the biggest house even tho shes one person like shes really mad that my aunt added an extention to her house and she is always screaming about that
well, i know that your grandma is rood and mean, well let me give u this tip. When she yells at you stay calmed, and when she is in good mood, come and talk to her, and say how you feel, say grandma you are older now, you should care about kids, satisfaction, reading the bible and taking care of family. Not caring about what you need to wear, and style all the time. I am young grandma, I should spend money, not waste all, but sometimes i want to spend, like you want many shoes, and clothing don’t I have that wish and hopes too. You should understand me, not only clothing and shoes are important in life. People should be more important to you, then accessories. When people passes away they don’t take accessories with them. They take hopes, and family’s loves with them. Also say ” Great grandma is elder then you, she shouldn’t be blamed. She is old and you are too, how would you feel if someone treated you like ur doing? When you making me feel bad grandma do you think I will be satisfied by your love? you should talk to her politely and if she doesn’t listen you should start being mean and rood.
Do you think that people should wait till after their baby’s shower to purchase baby items?
I am 8 mo’s pregnant with a baby girl, I also have a 22 mo old son. With my son I waited until after the shower to do any real shopping, at the request of my husband and his family. There were many young boys born shortly before our son, so he got a lot of use-full and me downs, and clothes at the shower, but I didnt receive anything that I had asked for or that I registered for. So I have not waited for the shower that my hubby’s mom is planning (I dont even know when it is taking place & Im 32 weeks), so anyway my hubby’s mom came over today and she looked in the baby’s room, and she said I dont mean to be rude but what is everyone supposed to get for her baby shower, I said that their are more things that she needs, and she stated that now that she sees what I have for my daughter that she doesnt have any idea what to get her. So I made up a quick list of some of the less expensive things that my baby still needs, and I gave it to her, and said to let anyone else know whats on it if they ask her what the baby needs, but I heard her under her breath making statments that I already have the things on the list.
I know its not a big deal, but i dont feel like I did anything wrong. I have specific items that I really wanted/ want for my daughter, some from online and our familys dont shop online, so I didnt want to ask for these things and get something else from a local store, and I really didnt want to wait until 1 month before the baby is born to find out if I got the things I want and need, then have to rush and get everything at the last minute (like I did with my son). Besides their are many more things she still needs, onsies, diapers, wipes, dreft laundry soap, mittens, socks, headbands, blankets (even though everyone says she has enough- she has 3 blankets + 3 sets of recievers), 1 swaddle blanket, 1 sleep sack, and some other things. I still need a swing but I want a certain one, they wanted to give me a used one- thats been through 3 kids, and isnt in good condition, I need a glider chair, but she wants to give me one she keeps in her garage to smoke ciggerettes on, I want an arms reach co sleeper but when I asked for this when I was prenant with my son I recieved a infant travel bed, I want a infant motion monitor, a mamaroo, and a safety 1st double stroller thats compatable with my infant carseat. So there are actually plenty of things that I still want/ need, but I feel like people just want to complain, even about the awesome things I got my daughter, I just expected people to be happy when they looked at the babys room and stuff.
I might come across as ungrateful, but I am not. If you read my original post I state that I am only askin for inexpensive stuff because I am buyin all of the expensive stuff myself- because I want
specififc items, and I dont want to wait untill days before my kids born to shop. I am reusing a lot of stuff, but what I dont want to reuse- I am re-buying! This is my last child, my only daughter, so if I want to buy everything new, and pink, I can! I am not asking anyone else to. She made it a big deal that I have purchased items, lots of items, so what, Im going to continue buying stuff for my kids for the rest of their lives too. If anyone else decides to buy anything for my baby, than that is great, I will be very appreciative, and I will not return it to the store, because my husband doesnt believe in returning gifts.
I think its just a mother in law thing. Dont let it get to you. You can buy all you want before the baby shower because a shower is a ‘gift’ event and you can never predict or demand with gifts. If they bring you something you already bought you can always exchange it for something else, thats why they have gift receipts, and some stores like walmart and target will let you exchange or return even without a receipt as long as its unopened. It is always a good idea to shop early since babies need A LOT of things.
I had some issues with my mother in law over what to put in my registry, what to get for the baby, even after the baby was born, there were still issues about how to feed her yada yada. This is your child, don’t let her get to you, especially now that you are pregnant, don’t be rude or anything to her but its your child and you can ask for what you please if people wanna get it for you they will.
Where do I shop? I am 27years old and had a baby two years ago. Since I’ve lost weight after having my son, I?
Any suggestions???/
need a new fall and winter wardrobe. I used to shop at Forever21 and Charlotte Reusse before I had my son but I want to change my style now. I find the women’s clothing in department stores like Kohls too old ladyish (if thats a word) and clothes at Ny&Co and Ann Taylor (I think Ann Taylor is a little pricey) not casual enough. I like Old Navy style but I think their quality has changed and is horrible in the past couple years. I am a stay at home mom and I want to buy some cute clothes for playdates and when i meet up with other moms…I want them to be very chic, age appropriate and casual. Where do I shop at?? Preferably not online because I like to try on my clothes and nothing too expensive because kids and expensive clothes don’t go well.
What do you think for a business on the side?
Do some looking on etsy.com

Wondering if anyone is looking for baby clothes for sale?
If there is anyone looking for preemie, newborn, 0-3, or 3-6 month clothing or blankets, and sleep positioners, I sell on eBay for dirt cheap. I have auctions ending today that start at $1. I also relist anything that didn’t sell atleast every other day. I have gently used clothing from my twin boys that I sell. I will also sell in bulk for discounted price if anyone wants to buy bulk of what I have in a size. I also throw in free unused diapers, washcloths, and bibs if I have any available. All my items are stored in a smoke free, pet free, clean house and I wash all items before shipping. I also have other items not posted for sale, just contact me for additional information. I am online almost all day long, this is my job to bring in extra money while taking care of my 3 month old twins and my husband works for GM and we all know what’s going on with that company. I also sell women’s and men’s clothing and shoes, email me for more details. So, if you know anyone looking for gently used, in excellent condition baby boy clothes and some unisex items, accessories, etc. send them to myworld.ebay.com/mzhuddleston or email me at mz_huddleston@yahoo.com.
craigslist only lets you post in your region, otherwise you’re violating rules. i thought YA would be better until i find something else.
Have you tried craigslist.org?
Ok moms … what do you think?
Ok. As some of you know I’m starting an online new and used baby/toddler clothing store. Blah blah blah you’ve heard the story before….
Anyway I’m SO HAPPY to let you know that the site is up! I’ve been adding items like crazy. There is a TON(literally like a few thousand…lol I’m going to be so busy) left to add. The layout and welcome page are up though and I have a lot of NWT items up. No used yet.
I really just want a few opinions though. Not asking you to purchase or anything, but what do you think? Are the items priced well? What do you think of shipping charges? Return policy sound fair? Basically would you buy from us? Any ideas or thoughts you may have would be appreciated. You’ve all been SO wonderful with input so far and I really do appreciate it. Register if you would like. I plan on sending out a 20% off coupon around our grand opening in January. Thanks a bunch. I can’t wait to hear your thoughts. Here is the link.
http://www.PreciousRepeats.net/
We go up to 5/5T.
I don’t have a lot of toddler stuff up yet, but it is coming. It takes a lot to upload each item and I have a ton of items. I’m hoping to have everything up by Jan.2011, but YES I have a lot of toddler clothing both new and used.
Wow, gorgeous clothes, great prices! Well done.
Ship to Australia please!!?
question about 18 kids and counting?
does anyone know the name of the store that was featured on an episode of 18 kids and counting? it was the one where they are shopping for baby stuff and leave jim bob at home w/the little ones. it shows the store, which looks huge, having a big sale w/tons of women waiting in line. everything is used, and is super cheap, anna ends up buying lots of stuff like the bouncer and clothes. was that an acutal store, or just a big sale type thing? have searched online, but can find no reference, would appreciate any help!
oh i just watched that, it is what they called “growing children” swap where you bring in your baby stuffa and buy others stuff because kids grow soo fast that you can just use used stuff cause kids dont wear clothes or stuff out. I hope this helped
Help me name my bow boutique!?
I’m opening a high end boutique for girls and toddlers. It’s going to be a bow boutique (the kinds that go in your hair). I might add on to the inventory by adding clothes at one point but for now it’s bows so I don’t necessarily need the word “Bow” in the name. I was thinking of calling it “Platinum Chick” so it’s a cute name for both teens and younger girls! It’s going to be very cute and pink! If you have any more ideas add them in but please don’t use my name in them. I think that “Brooks Bows” is rather uncreative! lol! It has to be something catchy, girly, and cute! It doesn’t need to indicate what the store sells as it’s an online boutique-for now and will have a catchy phrase to go with it! I like the name Platinum Chick because it isn’t to babyish for teens but still isn’t too teenish for tots! Do you think I could add a baby chick in the logo to make it cuter? lol!
I’m open to ideas! I like the name but if you think you have something better just tell me! or give me ideas for the logo!
Thanks in advance!
Brooklyn
“take a bow” is already a boutique!!! Something more “out of the box” creative!
I like Platinum Chick, but it doesn’t really sound like a store for toddlers. So in the logo you could do in small letters, Tots and Teens. Or you could change it to Platinum Chickies.
What Can I do till October? and some other questions.?
I am so happy, my brother and his girlfriend just told my parents that they are expecting their first baby due October 1. I already am an aunt to a 10 year old, but I am so excited to get a new niece or nephew. Can you answer some questions I have?
-When can they tell if the baby is a boy or girl?
-What can I do till October? and what are somethings to help the time pass?
-What are some nice little things I can start to get for the baby before I know it’s sex?
-Where are some places I can look online at baby clothes and toys?
-What are some things I can get for the baby when I do know it’s sex?
-What store have good clearance sales on baby clothes?
-What are some cheap things the baby will need?
-What can I do help prepare the grandparents house for the baby?
I know that you can get nice outdoor toys such as play houses at garage sales, but when the baby is born it will be October so it won’t really be going outside till spring. I mainly interested in things that I can use inside, but what are some toy’s for baby’s about 5 months to use outside?
1. 18-20 weeks gender check
2. Read books, buy baby stuff, but dont be too intrusive on her b/c this is her baby.
3. You can go crib shopping with her in the meantime.
4. Babies R Us and Target are good places to shop, even ebay.
5. Target and Walmart have good baby clothes
6. Target and Walmart have lots of small things that you can buy for the baby that are inexpensive.
7. IDK the answer to the last question
I have a question for you though, are you and your almost sis in law really close b/c she might want to do this stuff especially if its her first. You can help without being to intrusive. I would hate if my sis in law was all in my business! That’s just me though!
Oh yeah, you can plan the baby shower. I’m sure it will be the bomb b/c you are super excited!
What should I name my online store?
I’ve been trying forever to come up with a store name for the products I’ll be selling online. Everytime I come up with something I like, its either already in use or it just doesn’t work. I’m planning on selling children’s clothing (infant to child) mostly, but also clothing for all other ages, as well as adults. I’d also like to sell other baby items, such as nursery items, etc. Eventually I’d like to sell my crafts that I create as well. I might occasionally sell odd and end things, and even some books. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
I have a very fertile imagination when it comes to things like this so here is my list: Sprouts&more, Babies and Up, Infantile Necessities,.From Bottle to Book,( I have a granddaughter and I am into the naming thing right now).Oops, There Goes Another One. or how about “They Always Outgrow Them. Please let me know if you choose one of my answers.Thank you.
What is your favorite maternity clothes brand? Favorite store to buy maternity clothes? Why?
I really like Motherhood Maternity the pants fit me great. I know that Old Navy has maternity clothing, and I have heard that they have good prices. I dont understand why they say that you should buy the same size you were prior to being preggers though, because smalls are 4/6 they say, but I was a 9 prior to this pregnancy, and I was a 5 or 7 prior to my last pregnancy, and I wear size small in pants and shirts in most all maternity clothes. There are a few brands that smalls are to small, like an Oh Baby maternity shirt I bought online, everything fits fine, except the arm holes are so small that the squeeze my arms so tight, I almost couldnt get it off, and it was not comfortable. My arms are not very big either. But I think my favorite place to buy maternity clothing is Ebay, because you can get new or slighty used maternity clothing, for a very good price. The only problem buying online is that so many different brands run different sizes, even so I bought about 15 shirts and 8 pants online through eBay all size smalls and only 2 shirts were to small. I bought one shirt in a medium from Buddah belly maternity, they stated that their maternity clothes ran smaller than others so you should order a size larger than usual, so when the medium shirt came it was so huge it looked like a dress, but I returned it and my small is on its way.
So where is your favorite place, store, and your favorite maternity brands?
Thanks for your answers and God bless you all.
I bought a lot of tops from Target – Liz Lange’s collection. They were trendy, comfortable and true to size. Old Navy was also great. As far as style, Lauren Kiyomi is my personal favorite.
Hard time selling used maternity clothes?
haha
I am trying sooo hard to sell my lot of maternity clothes and I am having no luck. I had a baby in sumer-fall and then another in fall-summer so I have a wide range of “seasons”. I just want to get rid of it all at once, but I am looking online and cannot find a good site to sell them at nor can I find a store that will buy them in person. Ah! Help! I’m done having kids and I took such good care of them, they need a good home.
Try ebay…I have actually purchased a lot of my maternity clothes from there. It helps if you are able to take some good pics of the pieces. You can gheck out what other lots are going for on there. Good luck.
Domain Hosting?
I’m new at this but decided to give this all a try. I am setting up an online clothing store for my cousin and am deciding on a which web host i should use. I’m deciding between 1&1 internet’s beginner plan ( http://order.1and1.com/xml/order/Hosting;jsessionid=88187EA73EAACF8C9D753C2E75A416E3.TC61b?__frame=_top&__lf=Static ) and hostgator’s hatchling or baby plan ( http://www.hostgator.com/shared.shtml )
for the number of domains in a package::
does that mean i can only have like a HOME page? and no other links connecting to it? like a customer service page?? or is that a subdomain?
what do you suggest?
10 POINTS FOR BEST ANSWER
Mandy, It is great that you have narrowed your match for web hosting down to two options. If you go with the hatchling plan you will only have one domain which will be your home page. If you are looking to have multiple pages I would go with the next plan up. Most web hosts offer unlimited domain hosting which means that you can have a home page and an unlimited amount of sub-domains linking to it.
I know that the web host I use is not one of your options listed. However, the web host that I use has a informative web page built to help know the key factors to look for in choosing the right web host. If you would like to know what some of these key factors are you can see this page at http://compare.sitesell.com/UnstoppableDreams.html
BEST WISHES!
where to buy cheap clothes online not plus size but a little bigger then for say rue21?
I’m 21 and have a 11month old baby. I use to be a size 11 now I’m a size 16. i always bought clothes at place like rue21 and forever21.. stylish clothes. now they dont have my size. I’ve tried plus size stores but there to big. I’m not a true size 16 but i have extra skin that i have to tuck i need help.please give my web sites. thanks
The majority of plus size stores start their sizes at either 12 or 14 so I don’t know why they’d be 2 big. You can try torrid, lane bryant, catos, fashion bug, the avenue, catherines etc. They all have websites. Your going to run into the problem of finding cute clothes in plus size no matter where you shop. Ecspecially if your comparing it to the styles of rue 21. Be prepared to be lucky if you can even find 1 outfit at each site. Good luck
MOMMIES, PLEASE I NEED UR HELP…!!!?
Pls where and where are the best shops to get great deals on DURABLE baby stuff, for a mum-to-be with LIMITED funds who realyyy does not want to get fairly-used stuff for her precious baby! (Even if I have to work ten jobs, I want to get new stuff for my baby).
And Im nt real bothered about clothing, more like playpens, feeding stuff, cribs, everythn for a new baby. (This is my 1st, so I have nothing AT ALL)
Been looking online and I notice WALMART has some good prices (compared to other stores I saw, like TOYS R US for babies stuff and co.)
The problem is that I have never realy had much faith in WALMART, the very few things I have got from there in my life turned out to be a panny-wise-pound-foolish experience (ie not durable)
Pls note location: Calgary (Canada)
Thank you (in advance) for your suggestions
Check out albeebaby.com I bought an awesome pack n play (it vibrates, has music, and a nightlight!!!) with shipping on sale for $95! They have a ton of stuff and the prices are reasonable. Shipping on orders over $100 is free. Less than $100? Shipping is only $4.95!
For diapers I really really really recommend diapers.com They have really good prices and if you spend $49 shipping is free. I ordered like $70 worth of diapers from there because it was so cheap.
Target can have some decent prices. I bought a fisher price swing (that plugs into the wall) for $65, and a carrier for $17 and on those 2 items alone I saved almost $50! But those were actually bought at the store.
Baby clothes… If you don’t care about used baby clothing I totally recommend ebay!
Have fun shopping!!!
Is he flirting………………….?
I work at Target and this guy works in the garden department. He has always been chatty with me. Today I was sitting outside during my break and he came and sat next to me!! He asked me how many weeks pregnant I was and I told him 16. He said that he heard what happen with Todd leaving me when he found out and said he thought I was doing great. Then he told me his sister won a gift card to some online maternity clothing store for $100 and she had no use for it and if I wanted it he could prob get it for me!!
Do you think he likes me? I really want a great guy around for my baby.
You’re pregnant and every baby needs a father figure in their life. Start out being friends with this guy, hang out, get coffee watch movies, but not necessarily be a couple. If you like him and he likes you after hanging out a bit, then you could start a relationship but if you don’t like him like that stay really good friends with him, nothings wrong with that and then your baby will have a male in it’s life. I know it’s a long time away but you have to think to the future. If you like him though, get into a steady mode with him, before your baby is being boring, because having a complicated relationship and a baby would be a lot of work for you.
Was I really being immature?
This incident occurred last Christmas, but my wife and I still argue over it occassionally.
We live in a culturally diverse community–she is white, and I am black. Last Christmas, we went to visit her family in Tennessee for the first time.
When her family with talk with each other, they would use their normal dialect. However, whenever they addressed me, they would use ebonics and ghetto phrases replicated off MTV or BET (ie: “Yo, dog, he was trippin’ fuh real, you feelin’ me?”) Or they would make statements such as, “Could you teach my son to rap? He’s a big fan of Eminem!”
When it came time to exchange gifts, I received items such as baggy hip hop style clothings, silver imitation jewelry with a huge glittering dollar sign or words such as “Big Pimpin’ “, and cd’s from Tupac Shakur and Dr. Dre. They made laughing remarks to the nature of, “Yeah, it was kind of hard shopping for you cause we aren’t sure what black people like. We had to order the clothes from online because we couldn’t find any stores where black people shop for their clothes!”
Keep in mind, these gifts were for a 28 year old insurance agent with a master’s degree.
I was so irritated, I quietly asked my wife to excuse me, and I went outside for a brief walk around the block to calm myself. Shortly afterwards, I noticed a taxi, and elected to just return to our hotel room and sleep. My wife was extremely angry when she retured, and claimed that her family was insulted by my actions and that they said I was no longer welcome in their home. I told her I didn’t like the fact that they were all acting as though I were another species of human, but she kept saying that they were at least trying to get along with me.
I personally believed they were being ignorant and stereotypical, but she continues to say I was being a baby and needed to just laugh it off and have fun with them.
Which one of us is right, and why?
I think you are both right.
They certainly were treating you as if you were a different species, and they certainly were being ignorant and stereotypical. They certainly were ignoring that you are a highly educated insurance agent. And I agree that being extremely irritated, and even angry, is a normal response to being treated like that.
BUT, the word ‘ignorant’ is the key here. These people, who know so little about your people that they think they have to find a store where ‘black people shop for their clothes’, and who probably don’t know any ‘African Americans’ socially, and who get their entire idea of what you might be like from the TV and popular culture, probably WERE doing their best to welcome you. They most likely thought they were treating you in a way you wanted to be treated.
Remember, they COULD have been cold, and stiff, carefully not mentioning that you are of a different race, speaking in stilted tones, and acting uncomfortable when you sat on their furniture. Instead, they made asses out of themselves trying to make you feel welcome.
I admit that I can’t be completely sure they were trying to make you feel welcome. I suppose they might have been doing all that stuff, and buying all those presents, just to insult you. It does seem obvious that you don’t wear clothes and jewelry like the stuff they gave you. Had they met you often, outside of the wedding, before? Were they really familiar with how you are and how you dress etc.?
So, I agree that their actions and words were very irritating, and you feeling angry was appropriate. What might have been NOT appropriate was SHOWING that you were angry. You are intelligent enough to judge whether these people were trying their best but were screwing up royally, or were purposely trying to insult you. If they WERE trying their best, then it would have been better for you to just grin and bear it, for now. Then you could have talked about it with your wife. Then your wife could have gently talked about it, after a couple of months had gone by, with her family. In this way they could have been slowly educated about you, and in extension, about your people, so that they would have slowly become less ignorant.
I am only guessing, of course, from knowing so many people from both races, from living in a large extended biracial family, and having southern relatives too. It is very hard to be around people who have an unquestioned belief deep in their minds that they are not only completely different than you, but they are somehow better than you. I guess I don’t have to tell you that. And it is hard to always have to be the noble one, the one who smiles and bears it, and pushes on toward a better understanding someday. But, that is the role you chose when you chose to be in a biracial family.
If you apologize, don’t apologize for being angry, since you had the right to feel that way; apologize for leaving the house and not coming back, for leaving your wife AND her ignorant, awkward, but possibly well meaning family wondering what was going on, and feeling insulted.
Good luck with this road you have chosen. Good luck being the noble one.
is this a good way to start collecting baby items?
im 5 weeks pregnant today =)
i am trying to create some system to buy baby items.
i currently babysit on occasions for extra cash,my husband is in the military.
i plan to use all the cash i get from babysitting on gently used baby items(clothes, and toys)
I made accounts on local stores websites cause everything seems cheaper when u buy it online.
i plan to get every thing else except the crib set off line, and i plan to buy 1 item every day my husband gets paid(so 2 items a month)
is this a decent system?
It’s well thought out and economically sound. You’re going to be a great mom with that kind of planning-Congrats!
Moms: Where do I find this?
I bought my daughter a vet kit with puppies from Once Upon a Child. It came with 5 puppies and vet supplies like a brush, syringe, stethoscope. My daughter cares less about the supplies but loves the puppies. I looked up vet kit online and it says it only comes with the one puppy, which is not the one I bought from Once Upon a Child. (if you don’t know what Once Upon a Child is, It is a store that buys and sells gently used baby items like clothing, toys etc. I must have purchased a kit that had addition items from a different store. I would like to buy these certain puppies separately but don’t know where to look.

If you recognize them, let me know where I can find them. Here is the link:
There are no tags =( They’ve been cut off
I seriously looked online for, like, an hour for these puppies (partially because I’m incredibly bored at work, and partially because your daughter is so cute!). The closest things I could come up with were:
http://www.amazon.com/Plush-Small-Puddles-Dog-10/dp/B001CKK0DY/ref=sr_1_40?ie=UTF8&s=toys-and-games&qid=1259181556&sr=8-40
And this:

The dalmation one really looks like the same puppy – maybe the one your daughter has was an earlier model, and the company started getting cheaper and only offering one dog with it?
This one is similar, too:

Beanie babies look like they would be about the same size (and now that the weird craze is over, they shouldn’t be too expensive). Maybe some of those could make an addition to the litter?
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=beanie+babies+dog&x=0&y=0
EDIT: This one might be smaller, but it looks awfully similar:

Finding cute capris – mid-rise but appropriate for an adult?
After having a baby, I gained a little weight and put on a little pudge. Now my waist is still larger than normal but my hips are down to a normal size. However, after donating all of my summer clothes last year while I was pregnant (hint: don’t do that), I need new clothes for the summer. I’m losing weight, so spending more than $20/pair seems a little silly.
Old Navy capris fit well, but their styles are limited. I know that Gap has the same size chart, but their prices are just too high.
It seems that if I go to other stores, namely LL Bean and Lands End, the waists on capris ride too high (above belly button) and the size charts would mean that to fit my waist, it would be just too big everywhere else.
While tailoring is always an option, I would like to avoid it at all costs.
Does anyone have any stores they like to use; purchasing online is the best because with two kids, busy weekends and a full-time job, ”m just plain busy.
i would say no to capris and yes to long shorts. kohls and mervyns have cute cheap stuff like that.
Cheap baby clothes online. In the UK ?
I am on a tight budget,
&have a baby on the way.
does anyone know any online stores
where i can get good quality but affordable baby clothes
it must be in the UK,

Also if you know any trustworthy website that would be great
thanks
supermarkets are very cheap and i know, your thinking “im not buying baby clothes from a supermarket!! what will the neighbours think!?” lol, but the clothes in asda really arent that bad! also try matalan and tk max, not sure how young thier clothes go to, but deff. asda
good luck, and congratulations!!
two questions about shopping?
1. Where can I find nursing shirts? I dont want to get them online only because I have never tried any on so I want to be able to go to the store and try them on.
2. Where, online, can I find funny baby clothes? You know the ones that say stuff like “If you think Im cute you should see my daddy” and other stuff like that…I know there is a website that I used to go to and I am pretty sure there was a cuss word in the link but I cant remember what it was called. Any ideas?
the reason i want some nursing shirts is because my brother in law is very uncomfortable when i nurse and i dont like using the whole blanket thing so i thought i would get a few nursing shirts for when i go there…everywhere else i go everyone is fine with it i just thought that i would cover up a little bit more when we are around my brother in law
(1) you can find nursing clothes at some Targets, Wal-Mart, Motherhood Maternity. Some online providers will allow you to return items at no charge, check out their return policies b/c you will find a much bigger selection online. The only nursing clothes I bought were nursing bras and tanks, I just wear loose fitting shirts when I know I will be nursing out in public. I also bought a nursing cover, but a blanket works well too.
(2) funny baby clothes you can find at Target, dirty funny baby clothes you can find at http://www.TShirtHell.com
Online shopping spree HAUL (Help me create winter outfits)?
Hello all! As some of you may already know, I have been going through a lot recently with my daughter. So, I have decided to do something fun that I actually enjoy and that will keep my mind off of other things at the moment.
Okay, just yesterday, I completely raided practically every online store and purchased winter clothes for myself (including a couple things for my baby girls).
Here goes!
-http://www.anntaylorloft.com/catalog/product.jsp?productId=28801&N=1200009&pCategoryId=3359&categoryId=208&Ns=CATEGORY_SEQ_208&loc=TN&defaultColor=Amber%20Wash&defaultSizeType=Regular
These pants are AMAZING, I purchased then in a size 4 in the charcoal color. I will wear them with flats or heels to work.

This item I purchased in the deep royal blue color in size S, It does not go well with the pants but I have lots of other things to pair it with. Perfect for going out for coffee with friends on a cold day.
-http://www.anntaylorloft.com/catalog/product.jsp?productId=29368&N=1200007&pCategoryId=3359&categoryId=211&Ns=CATEGORY_SEQ_211&loc=TN&defaultColor=Charcoal%20Grey&defaultSizeType=Regular
I purchased this item in the charcoal gray color size small, I absolutely cannot wait to wear this dress. Plus, I am in love with the cowl neckline thing- it makes me feel so young!
So, I know, gucci right? I almost NEVER shop here but I need to get rid of some of my “old-lady clothing” and try something new. Its crazy, $300 for sunglasses, but I can tell you this right now: these sunglasses are to last me for at least the next three years. I love them so much, and I think you can tell! lol.

My new obsession is hobo bags, this one really caught my eye! I purchased it in the black and I will be using it everyday for carrying my stuff to and fro at work!

This jacket I bought for my lovely 17 year old daughter, I also added a monogram: AJE (her initials). It is her birthday this Thursday. And right now, it seems to me that she is the family member that I can trust the most besides my husband.

My 16 year old baby girl’s first prom dress! I helped her pick it out last week and I finally ordered it, it is a surprise however, she has no idea I ordered it for her! It will look great; she is really tall and skinny (unlike my other two babies).

I let my smallest baby girl choose five things from the same website under a given price. These are the items she chose.(The limit of the amount of links I could post was 10, so three items are not shown in this list)
So, I have pretty much bought everything we need for the winter this year! If my girls want anything else, they will purchase it with their allowance money. That is one thing that I am very strict about. However, one of my girls is being punished for something currently and is not receiving any allowance money.

Where do you shop for baby clothes?
I’m in the UK. 80% of what I buy is from Asda and Matalan then occasionally Next and Pumpkin Patch.
She’s nearly 1 and needs 12 – 18 months clothes, where I usually go hasn’t got very much at the moment so I went to Next and bought 3 lovely outfits.
Where do you go and do you use online stores?
I get a lot of things from eBay, but if I am buying, my favourite is H&M because their stuff is a little unusual and they have a great selection of colours that suit my son – he virtually lives in this little bright turquoise long sleeve I got from there, the colour really suits him. I also find their sizing fits him the best as he is very very slim and a lot of their stuff has the adjustable waist tabs.
I go to Next in the sales but I also love the supermarket stuff – Sainburys is very good, I like Asda too.
I popped into Primark this week and got him a couple of bits, so cheap and very cute.
I keep meaning to go to Matalan when I see the stuff my friends buy but I haven’t got around to going yet!
We got gifted stuff from Pumpkin Patch and I loved it – that fitted him very well too.
He has an awful lot of excellent quality hand me downs from my partner’s friend – thats a lot of the designers at debenhams stuff – John Rocha, Jasper Conran etc – nice but I wouldn’t splash out on it myself unless for an occasion.
Oh and online – yes I use Verbaudet – its a branch of la redoute – they always have promo codes so you can grab real bargains, I absoloutely adore their dungarees so my son has some to grow into aswell!

How much will my baby cost?
I am having a baby in 8 months and I am 15 years old. My parents want me to put it up for adoption which is NOT happening I would NEVER give my kid away for anything. So I have a list of everything I need but I want to know how much it will cost. I am not putting it in daycare I am going to watch it I do online schooling anyways. And I can get a pretty good car seat and stroller and crib for cheap at thrift stores by my house they are gently used that I seen. So that rest of what I would need is blankets, burp cloths, pacifiers, diaper bag, diapers, wipes, baby shampoo, gentle baby bath, baby tub, soft toys, audio monitor, hooded towels, baby oil, baby nail clippers, bouncer, and I can get a very good amount of baby clothes from thrift stores to that are also gently used.
Also tell me if there is anything else I am missing.
Well you are kind of young to be having a baby but it sounds like you know that you are going to have to be prepared and have listed pretty much everything you need and then some, lol. Also you may want to know that once you are pregnant you become a emancipated minor, which means you basically are considered an adult and your parents can’t make you do anything you don’t want to do, like giving up your baby so that gives you one less thing to worry about. Now for the baby items, babies aren’t cheap but I have had several so I have learned just what is needed and where you can substitute things. Right now is a great time to look at yard sales for baby items, a yard sale may be the better place to look for a car seat b/c you can ask the original owner if it has ever been in a car that had a accident, you don’t want one that has. I don’t know where you live but in our area the local WIC gives away car seats for free! Brand new ones. Also the sheriffs department gives new ones away too. You just need to give either one a call and they will help you get one. If you haven’t went to apply for WIC, you need to do so asap. WIC is for people like yourself, it’s very helpful and saves you a ton of money. While you are pregnant they will give you checks for certain healthy foods, like cereal, cheese, milk, eggs, peanut butter, ect. When the baby comes they really save you a ton of money b/c they will give you checks to pay for the baby formula if you are not solely breast feeding and if you are they will continue to give you food and help teach you to breast feed easier and give you a new breast pump. They will also help you to get things you may need, like clothing, crib, and things like that. I would start getting a bag of size one diapers every month so you have a supply when the baby is born. I say size one b/c you get a lot more in the bag than the newborns and they pretty much will fit the baby within a week or two, you can fold the top part down if her/his belly button cord hasn’t fallen off yet. I would also get a few bags of newborn for the first week or two.
Do you have any friends or family that recently had a baby? If so I would offer to buy the stuff that doesn’t fit their baby anymore and the items they don’t use anymore. If they are nice they may just let you have it for free, I know I was always willing to give people things for free if they needed them. I wish that people could personally contact others through here, like email b/c if you are not to far I could pass on a few things, like a car seat and pack and play that is also a bassinet as well as a front pack carrier and a bouncer seat. Even if it had to be shipped I would be willing to do that if you are able to send the shipping cost after you get the stuff, I say after so you know I am not trying to rip you off, lol. Well anyways if you are able to figure out a way to msg me or somehow get me your email or alternate one I will let you know what I have, if you are in the U.S. Don’t worry I am not some weirdo, lol, only a mother who knows just how hard it can be when starting out.
As far as overall cost to have a baby? It will be at least a few hundred to get the things that you will need and depending on how much help you get it will continue to cost a lot to raise the baby. Also you need to show your parents that you are trying to be mature, you didn’t mention insurance so that is also something you need to make sure you get b/c it costs over $4,000.00 in most areas to deliver a baby. You will be able to get full coverage through programs that are set up for pregnant women who need insurance. WIC can also help you arrange for that too, so basically you first call should be to the WIC office so they can steer you in the right direction, they won’t be able to get you on WIC until you get a note from a doctor saying that you are pregnant so if you haven’t been to the doctors yet you will need to do that, if you do need the insurance it will usually pay your back bills up to three months so don’t worry about the cost of the appointment.
If I bought a barcode scanner for my computer…?
Would I be able to sell my own items? I want to have a garage sale. I have old books, bikes, hunting equipment that I dont need and my son outgrew his baby clothes. So I was planing on selling them. I recently got my own 7 – 11 Store (called the Franchise) and now I get all these gift cards, but I dont have any game systems or play any online games (don’t have time). So I was wondering if I could sell some at my garage sale using a barcode scanner. Is that possible?
I know the store one works after having a couple kids buy some for XBOX’s and Wii Points and stuff like that, but would a home barcode scanner work on gift cards or should I just continue selling the extra’s at the store?
The barcode scanner is just a fast way of getting a code into a computer (or a POS)
Usually on products, the numbers are under the barcode, I am not sure whether that is the case with the gift cards. The barcode scanner may just scan them into the computer (inventory, a line on the cash register) or activate them online. If the numbers are under the barcode, you can also activate them by keying in the numbers.
Just the barcode scanner will not work.
Maybe you can use them as a promotional item to get people to your shop ?
Business Idea..Please tell me what you think!?
Look on etsy.
Let me know if you want a product review on my blog http://nolamommy.blogspot.com/
However, whenever they addressed me, they would use ebonics and ghetto phrases replicated off MTV or BET (ie: Yo, dog, he was trippin’ fuh real, you feelin’ me?) Or they would make statements such as, Could you teach my son to rap? He’s a big fan of Eminem!
When it came time to exchange gifts, I received items such as baggy hip hop style clothings, silver imitation jewelry with a huge glittering dollar sign or words such as Big Pimpin’ , and cd’s from Tupac Shakur and Dr. Dre. They made laughing remarks to the nature of, Yeah, it was kind of hard shopping for you cause we aren’t sure what black people like. We had to order the clothes from online because we couldn’t find any stores where black people shop for their clothes!
U were right they were totally immature
Does my 8 1/2 month old show signs of autism?
I’m probably just being paranoid since this is my first baby & I’m not a pro on what’s normal or not in babies. But, reading some articles on autism online got me questioning some of the things my daughter does. She’s developing motor skills very well, she’s been crawling since 6 months (off of belly since 7 1//2 but still uses belly sometimes) She can pull up, sit up, & scoot sideways along the edge of the couch and other objects by herself.
The things I worry about are…
1) Her not liking new places and new people. She’s fine in grocery stores, but other places like my mother-in-laws house she gets really upset, she doesn’t let anyone hold her besides my husband, my mom, my grandmother (sometimes) and me. It’s been that way since she was two months old.
2) She’s never liked to cuddle besides when she was real young. I was never able to rock her to sleep by holding her or anything. She’ll sit on my lap for a little while and be close when she nurses and she likes to be close when she’s sleeping.
3) Arm flapping. I taught her how to wave bye-bye so I think that’s why she’s into flapping them so much, she does it with toys in her hand, when some music plays from her toys and sometimes she’ll just be sitting there doing it for a few seconds.
– She scratches at her ears and back of head a lot when she’s mad or sleepy.
4) She’s always been real quiet, she makes noises and says mamama & bababa throughout the day, but rarely when we’re out places.
5) She hates getting her diaper changed and getting clothes on. She screams.
6) She doesn’t get happy for food, she’ll be fine for a few bites then it’s a battle to get her to eat more.
7) She’s always pointing and touching things with one finger. But, she seems to play with toys the correct way. She likes to poke at little shiny screws and stuff on toys, & try to put her finger in little holes.
She makes good eye contact, & she does show affection. (gives little kisses sometimes & will be close to you for a short time, & she’ll stay sitting with me when I read her a book)
Idk if I just have a difficult baby or what, she has her 9 month check up on monday so I will be bringing up my concerns then, just wanted some input from people who know more about this than I do.
I would second everyone else here, and only add that I’d be more worried about a baby who DIDN’T show a strong preference for mom/dad/regular caretakers than others. I have noticed, as Delia pointed out, that many people with kids diagnosed with autism later in life found them to be incredibly easy babies, since they did not have strong preferences for certain places/people/routines as normal babies do.
I am glad there is so much autism awareness and more kids are getting help, but I think the downside is reading too much about “red flags” can freak just about any mommy out.
Being a mom can be difficult, but your baby sounds just normal to me. Relax and enjoy her.
