Italian (American) Christening Gifts

The Italian catholic christening is a sacred event in a family’s celebration of the new addition to the family and to the family of Christ. There are important traditions to and Italian christening unlike the Christian anointing the christening is usually very soon after the birth as the baby is said not to be protected by the Holy Spirit until baptism.

The family is vital to the Italian tradition, brought to America by Roman Catholic Italians immigrating to the U.S (the land of hope and opportunity), for a better life. Religion is paramount for Italian families and their children’s religion is central to their culture in terms of family values, heritage, and upbringing down to the tradition of eating meals with the family. Italian christenings are usually celebrated in a big way with all of the generations of family attending.

In much the same way the Europe Catholics celebrate American Italian Catholics like to have party atmosphere with singing, dancing, story telling and good food wine etc .The reception for the celebration is usually held in the family home or a church hall or community centre or hotel. The word baptism in Italian is translated as (Battesimo) meaning (immersion), this is derived from a time when Christians were fully immersed in water to be baptised much the same as an adult is baptised in the conversion of the Jewish faith.

The cleansing of the water means you are cleansed of all original sin. John the Baptist at the time or Jesus would fully immerse sinners in the river Jordan to clean them of original sin. Today Catholics are anointed three times in the name of the “Father the Son, The Son and the Holy Spirit. This is an initiation ceremony into God’s family and a promise to hold to the beliefs and traditions of the catholic faith. The God parent role in the christening and the subsequent upbringing of the child are crucial roles.

For unique christenings gifts, a keepsake decorative shadow box for the presentation and showcasing of the babies christening gown blanket and candle is a thoughtful gift idea. A Childs bible with a special inscription with the date of the christening and a special message from the giver will be a welcome gift for further celebrations in the form of communion and confirmation. Children’s bibles have picture display and easy reading for little brains with big lettered words and stories in the form of pictures or CD’s for audio and visual education.

Cuddly toys with religious significance are represented by the animals of Noah’s Ark or the Lamb which is a Christian symbol. Symbolic animals with stitching in the form of bible versus are a great gift for practicing Christian parents. Angel jewelry is very appropriate for Christian anointing in the form of a necklace or bracelet in ornamental form or in a picture frame with the date and photo of the babies christening. Baby gift baskets with baby clothes and personalised gifts commemorating the special day are a good idea.

Keepsake heirloom cross necklaces, T-bar cross in silver make a perfect gift for clipping to a blanket baby stroller or baby clothes. Pictures of the Sacred Heart in a laminated vinyl surrounded by a coloured ribbon sash blessed with holy water with bible versus for protection to be pinned to a stroller or crib.

Rosary beads in a special presentation box will be ideal for a communion and confirmation as well as a commemorative gift in glass, pearls, vinyl or wood depending on you choice. Personalized christening invitations with babies name photo and christening date a heritage commemoration gift of a coat of arms depicting the family name or a list of the family tree from the Italian generation make a thoughtful gift of a lifetime to be treasured.

Italian favours or (Bomboniere) are gifts especially imported from tone home country of Italy in the form of Italian porcelain figurines, Murano glass presentations with Swarowski crystals in the form of a pacifier or a Capodimonte figurine in baby blue or pink. The Italian favour is a 15th century old tradition of giving a small token by friends and family to commemorate the occasion. The tradition promised well wishes of Health, Happiness, Wealth and A Long Life. Favours with pictures of the Virgin Mary or St. Christopher are favourite Saints for most Italians.

The Bombonairea was traditionally given with coloured confetti for each occasion, pink or blue for christening and white for a wedding communion and conformation. The tradition of Italian favours carries on today in the form of baby shower gifts the principal is the same but the gifts differ. The Old Italian proverb still holds true (A gift with a good conscious is a double present). The gift that is given with a good heart is twice as appreciated then one given half heartedly or not in good faith.

having a few problems…what is you input?
ok,so i am a 13 year old girl living in the United states.Hillbilly Hell,Georgia to be exact.I have so many problems:im the only Muslim at school…and we don’t go to a mosque because it is too far away;but then we heard that there was another in a closer city that has been open for a few years, and offers a sunday school that teaches arabic and deen.So my mother decides to take us there, and ends up teaching my age group.i thought i would quickly make friends with all the girls in the mosque because i could relate to them, being muslim and all…but it turns out,i can’t!they don’t like speaking in arabic casually even though most of their parents are from egypt, and i really wanted to finally have a conversation with them as Muslim girls my age (because when i go to Jordan every 3 years to visit my cousins, they think im a retarded american who can’t speak arabic,so they talk to me like a little 3 year old)..and of course, they all know each other more, and im the odd one out because i don’t go to their school;so half the time,i can’t really relate to them…and all they like to do is listen to rap (heck, once they made fun of me for liking arabic music like nancy ajram…or even listening to american music like owl city…)and they also like to flirt with guys…and the whole reason why i don’t have any friends at school is because all the girls just want to talk about their boyfriends and flirt with guys!So i tell my mom how i don’t have any friends, and all she says is “education is more important, stay away from the boy-crazy girls and school and stay away from those girls at mosque, because they don’t care about education…YOU should, and it will help you through life”…i understand that completely, but how can i go through school without having at least one good buddy i can relate to?and another thing,i get really agitated about how the girls at my mosque dress, they wear skinny jeans, practically transparent shirts, and tons of make up while wearing hijab and entering a mosque!they are completely redefining hijab…i want to wear it for modesty, not for showing off!another thing, ive been complaining about so many things to my mom….i know i shouldn’t,and should be thankful for what i have, but i have always been complaining to my mom that my clothes are too small (i only have 5 small shirts,6 jeans,2shoes,and a vest)…and that i want to wear hijab…i have told her every verse, surah, and hadith that says about hijab…and she knows them,of course, but STILL won’t let me wear hijab…
and also that all my same-age cousins wear hijab…but she says that because they live in the middle east and will be ridiculed if they don’t wear hijab…so i told her,”won’t i be ridiculed too when we go to jordan this summer?”…but she says i can;t wear hijab because we live in the U.S…but i told her about all the doctors, athletes and other successful hijabi women…she herself wore hijab when she was little, but when she came to the U.S,she thinks hijab does not apply to muslims in the west…also,i feel like im being treated like a baby because my mom still talks to me as though i were 9 and not like im 13…my mom called my aunt today and she told her daughters, that were my same-age cousins i was talking about earlier,to talk to me.and i swear,i think she said “kefek?” like 3 times!we didn’t have a single mature conversation!she asked me stupid things like how school was or something…when my mom tells me she loves to talk about singers, and thinks i don’t know them or something…i hate my life!soryy,i know i should be thankful and be saying “alhamdulallah”…but how can i strenghthen my iman????
    @doesn’t kill:thank you for the encouragement…

i found this pic,and it really shows how you benefeit from hijab

I need boys names… soon. please help?
So, I went in for a gender scan at 16 weeks. My doctor told me that he was 99.9% sure I was having a baby girl. For the last 20 weeks I have been planning and getting ready for my little Jordan Marie to make her grand arrival. I went in this morning for a scan, and this new tech said, “awww, he’s such a cute little guy!” I looked at him and said, “don’t you mean she’s a cute little girl.” he made it clear that he meant little guy, and pointed to the screen to show me what he was talking about. three other doctors came into the room and spent the next 4-5 minutes marveling over my little BOYS penis.
I was an emotional wreck, which I guess might be somewhat normal. I’ve told everyone I was having a little girl, so they bought us cute little pink clothes. The nursery is a Noah’s Ark theme, so it is versatile, but I have to go clothes shopping for the baby now. At least my fiance was thrilled to find out he was having a little boy ;)

So, my number one thing is that I need little boy name suggestions.
number two is, have you ever heard of this happening? I’m disappointed!

    Thanks!

Do you like Briella Noelle Graham?

    Now the BNG!
Your name is Bailey Jordan Turner and your husband is Bryan James Graham. You get married and move into a house together. You are both 23.
    1.) Where did you meet
2.) What are your careers (or going to college to be if you two are in college)
3.) What state do you move to?
You are now three years older, and you both decide it is time for kids! You end up pregnant fairly quick, and soon find out it is TWINS! You pick out unisex names since you want to be surprised about the genders. Pick a middle name for a boy and a different one for a girl
4.) Twin #1—Name and middle names

The twins were born on February 23rd, and it is 2 identical girls!
The twins are now 2 and you want them to have a little brother/sister. You end up pregnant again! Twins run on both sides of the family (you and Bryan are both twins), and you are pregnant with twins again! This time you find out ahead of time if it is a boys or girls. It is one boy and one girl! They must add up to the same amount of letters in their first and middle names.

Your husband agrees for another one, he really wants another girl and you really want another boy.
